Born in 1974 in Jalgaon in Maharashtra, Rajesh Borse completed his General Diploma in Art with a specialization in painting in 1999. He also pursued a Diploma in Art Education, completing it in 2000.

Borse’s likes to use the medium of watercolor on paper, but he works in acrylic with equal ease. The celebratory aspect of rural living is one of the most important themes in his work, with figures depicted in various stages of dancing or merrymaking. The collectivity of the rural Indian lifestyle is highlighted in these paintings, imbuing Borse’s work with a sense of nostalgia by harking back to the surroundings that the artist grew up in. Borse’s work has been a part of several shows at venues including Nashik Kala Niketan, the V.V. Oak Foundation, SCZCC in Nagpur, and the Art Society of India in Mumbai. He has been honoured with awards from the Government School of Art, the V. V. Oak Foundation, and the Lalit Kala Bhavan in Khiroda.
