Visual Artist Dhan Prasad, born on January 15, 1975, in Hyderabad, India, embarked on his artistic journey under the tutelage of Guru Sri. T. Vaikuntum during his schooling years. His artistic education includes obtaining a Senior Art Certificate Examination from the Government of Bhopal in 1987, followed by Drawing Lower and Higher Grade Examinations in 1988 and 1992, respectively, by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Subsequently, he pursued higher education in Fine Arts at JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad, starting in 1994.
Dhan Prasad specializes in figurative art, employing mediums such as Acrylic on Paper or Canvas, Charcoal, and Ink/Pen Drawings. His vibrant and colorful works are a reflection of his affinity towards themes and subjects with naturally bright colors, such as the attire, ornaments, and surroundings of his subjects. He finds inspiration in the vibrant cultures and traditions surrounding him, particularly those encountered during his visits to temples, dargahs, and pilgrimage sites like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Char Dham.
His artworks often depict figures like Fortune Tellers, Pandits, Fakirs, and Yogis, whom he observes in and around these sacred places. Dhan Prasad views these individuals as embodiments of devotion and spirituality, capturing their essence in his compositions with titles like “Journey to Khumb,” “Towards Chardham,” and “Back from Darshan.” His fascination with these subjects stems from a visit to Haridwar and Rishikesh 15 years ago, where he was inspired to portray the diverse array of people seeking solace and blessings.
In his painting titled “HE IS AMONG US,” Dhan Prasad explores the notion of divinity manifesting in ordinary human beings. He emphasizes that God can be found in the actions and kindness of individuals who aid others in their time of need, whether they are family members, friends, or strangers. By depicting deities like Lord Shiva, Buddha, Hanuman, Jesus, and Ganesh alongside common people, he highlights the omnipresence of the divine in everyday life.
Similarly, in “JOURNEY OF HOPES AND WISHES,” Dhan Prasad captures the pilgrimage of people from diverse backgrounds, each seeking solace, redemption, or communion with the divine. He perceives them all as “The People of God,” sharing their stories, hopes, and aspirations as they embark on their spiritual odyssey. Through his art, Dhan Prasad invites viewers to contemplate the significance of faith, devotion, and the pursuit of inner peace in the journey of life.
