Puppet Series: Innocence and Peace
These paintings of puppet series are inspired by Rajasthani Folk Art. The light shines down onto the figure, painted in detail. This form, not human, yet suggestive of humanity, stands composed on the stage.
Buddha Series:
For Koban, Buddhism goes beyond religion and is more a philosophy or “way of life”. He is most at peace while conjuring an image of Buddha in a restful, meditative state. Koban, through his depiction of Buddha has developed a signature style. He restricts himself to soft, muted hues of earthy tones and so the feeling of calm and tranquility permeates through all aspects of the canvas. The colors on his canvas are earthy with reds and ochres, and he surprisingly blends different shades of blue into the drawings to add contrast and depth to the paintings.
